Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Calls4Home phone number service work?

When you sign-up, we research and assign you with a phone number that is either local to the facility where your inmate is located. When the inmate calls your new number, the call is redirected to your cell phone or landline and charged at the lowest possible rate charges by the institution.  You now save a lot of money on every call with us!

This enables your inmate to make a call to call you at the lowest possible price. No more huge long distance jail calling charges; you pay only the rate for the lowest calling charge which is generally 80% to 85% lower than the normal high cost.

Why does the institution say they don’t use “Calls4Home’s services”?

Because we provide you with a phone number reduce your prison/jail phone bills which reduces the facilities profits on your calls they probably wish they had a choice, but they don’t.  If they are inside the United States you can use us with them. Period.

How does Calls4Home save me money?

We enable your inmate to call you cheaper by providing you with a phone number local to your inmate that provides you with the lowest rate. Your inmate simply makes a call as usual but to that new number and your phone rings.

Why do I need a Calls4Home phone number?

For only one reason, simply to save “you” money on your inmate’s calls. With our service you will only pay for the lowest cost calling rates. We developed a new and easy way to avoid paying the highest calling rates for your jail calls. Our service let’s your inmate call your new phone number that forwards to your own phone. This way you pay a much cheaper local calling rate than the institution’s long distance calling rate.

What do you mean by “Unlimited Minutes”?

We do not limit the talk time so you can use your line account and talk as much as you want on domestic calls for federal inmates.

There are certain limits on State inmate calls and international calls, but in no case are they limited to less than 2400 minutes (400 hours of calls) a month.

Can I use your service with my Home/Cell/Work phone?

Yes, you can use any phone.

Does your service work with “Pre-Paid Collect” accounts at county jails and state prisons?

YES. It works with any phone system. The savings are substantial. If your inmate is paying $4.00 to connect plus $0.50 per minute, a 15 minute call would cost $11.00. With our service the call would cost no more than just $3.15 as there are NO LONG DISTANCE charges. Local Calls are always cheaper or free!

Does your service provide the actual phone call lines for Federal/County/State jails, or do you just help inmates and families?
We are not affiliated with any governmental agency.  We just provide a local or long distance phone number that rings to your phone any time it is called. When an inmate dials your number, the call still goes through the normal jail phone system. Your inmate must register your new local number on their approved call list, if their system requires it.

Is your service allowed to be used at a Federal prison?

YES! We set up originally to address overcharges by the Federal Nureau of Prisons, and as high as their charges are, we were shocked to learn what other institutions are charging.

We save you money with Federal, State or local county  facilities.

How many minutes are included per month?

We provide unlimited minutes per month and unlimited calls per month on Federal inmate domestic call accounts.  For State & Local Jail accounts, and for international accounts,  the limit may, under certain circumstances, be 2,400 minutes (400 hours) per month.  If you find it is, and require more time, email us at Service@Calls4Home.com and we’ll find a way to accommodate you.

So, if my inmate uses your number, will it violate prison rules or policies?

No! Our service and system is completely legal and ethical. Don’t get ripped off by the jail! Your calls may still be regulated and monitored by the jail and you can still deny or accept any call at any time the same way you receive calls now. All jail, prison, facility rules and regulations are still in effect.

What if my own phone number changes?

You can email us at any time at Service@Calls4Home.com and we will change your number in our system promptly, usually within 2 hours during the business day, within 4 to 8 in the evenings or on the weekends.

What if my inmate is transferred to another facility? Can I keep my current phone number?

If your inmate is transferred, we will provide you with a new local number and cancel the old one. Just email us at any time at Service@Calls4Home.com and we will promptly find a new local number for your inmate’s new facility.

We take great care to ensure that your nonpublic personal information is kept safe from unauthorized access and will never share, sell or transfer your information in violation of any regulation or law.

We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard your nonpublic personal information and to assist us in preventing unauthorized access to that information.

Is there any relationship between Calls4Home.com and the phone service provider located in each jail or prison?

We have no relationship with the facility phone service providers.  Jail and prison phone providers have exclusive rights to provide service to the facilities. They usually own the phones and lines. So we work independently to get around their rates using our own system which saves you a lot of money.

Is Your Service Legitimate?

We are totally legitimate and not a scam.  Our customers are satisfied customers because they save money every day with all our services. The facility phone companies make a lot of money from inmates and their families. Their huge jail calling fees include additional, hidden fees.

The prisons make a lot of money on these calls too. Prisons have control over the prison phone market and the larger compaies can only survive if prison calling rates remain high. They generally don’t like people to using our services because we cut into their profits and help save you money. We provide a reliable and legal way for people to save on prison phone bills – the only way to save.

Can GTL or Securus or SecurTel block Calls4Home.com numbers?

Nope!  That would be illegal and they don’t try.  Despite their outrageous, even crippling rates, the prison and jail providers are usually operating in strict compliance with the law.
